We are Alexandra and Simran from London, and we’ve been partners in crime since 2008 when we met in a Spanish lesson at the University of Bath.

We’ve been fortunate in life to live in one of the world’s most exciting cities, and to pursue careers that are intellectually stimulating, challenging, and drive us to improve our field (even if only in the smallest way). Alexandra works as a Research Editor for a large NGO in the UK and is passionate about international development. She is particularly interested in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) – you’ll read a lot about latrines later! Simran is a military health Researcher, currently wrapping up her PhD on the experiences of caregivers of injured military personnel – you’ll hear more military history, mental health, and resilience in due course.

When we’re not being awesome at work, we’re usually cooking up a storm in the kitchen (Alexandra head chef, Simran sous chef/pot wash), travelling the world, and taking photographs (Simran photographer, Alexandra reluctant muse). All of which helps us engage our creative sides and find balance in our lives.

On our website you’ll find the latest updates from our trip, new recipes, incredible food photography, and photo stories from all of the places we’re going to visit.
